Who we are
Steady hands, close to home.
Moorstead started with a simple frustration: it’s harder than it should be to find help you can actually rely on.
Who We Are
Why Moorstead?
I've lived in Adlington for 14 years, and before that I grew up in Horwich. I am a local lad, and I started Moorstead after one too many conversations with neighbours, my parents, my now passed grandparents and busy friends who couldn’t get a straight answer, a fair price, or a tradesperson who simply turned up.
This is the business I wanted to be able to call for myself, my family and my friends.
Local, Reliable, Honest.
Why we exist
Something in between.
Trade directories are full of names with no accountability. Apps connect you to a stranger for an hour and move on to the next job. And the tasks that matter most — a leaking gutter before winter, help clearing a parent’s house, a lift to a hospital appointment — fit neatly into neither.
So we built something in between: a small, proudly local team, properly vetted, and answerable to a name you can actually reach.
Our promise
Four things we will not get wrong.
Reliability
If we say we’ll be there, we’ll be there. If something changes, you’ll hear from us before you have to ask.
Trust, properly earned
Every helper is DBS-checked, insured and right-to-work checked before they visit a single home. We meet every one of them in person — not just a profile online.
Local and personal
We live here too. We know the moors, the villages, and the difference between a job that needs doing today and one that can wait until spring.
Fair, transparent pricing
One hourly rate, agreed before we start. No inflated call-out fees and no surprises on the invoice.
Who actually turns up
A small panel, not an anonymous list.
Every Moorstead helper goes through the same steps before their first booking: an in-person interview, a right-to-work check and a Basic DBS check that we see for ourselves, and a signed agreement in which they confirm they hold their own public liability insurance of at least £2 million. We keep the panel small so we can vouch for every name on it — and if you get on with someone, you can ask for them by name next time.
Ready when you are.
Book a visit, or ring and talk it through first.
